چکیده

sustainable development of the production in every region requires consideration of energy flow in the production system, moreover, investigating the production system inputs from environmental management point of view is of high importance. in this study energy use and greenhouse gas emissions is investigated. data were collected through interviews with 75 tea farmers and comparing the results with farmers information book. total energy input was 39060.60 mj ha-1. energy efficiency was calculated as 0.22. chemical fertilizers had the largest share in energy use and greenhouse gas emissions with 58.55% and 74.22% in tea production respectively. total greenhouse gas emission in tea production was 1281.82 kgco2eq. ha-1. the results of cobb-douglas model and sensitivity analysis of energy inputs revealed that the effect of all energy inputs except chemicals were positive on the yield, and the input of human labor energy on yield was significant at the level of one percent. energy of labor input had the most sensitivity and also had the most effect on the yield and then the machinery energy input and chemicals had the next highest effect on the yield of tea production in guilan province sustainable development of the production in every region requires consideration of energy flow in the production system, moreover, investigating the production system inputs from environmental management point of view is of high importance. in this study energy use and greenhouse gas emissions is investigated. data were collected through interviews with 75 tea farmers and comparing the results with farmers information book. total energy input was 39060.60 mj ha-1. energy efficiency was calculated as 0.22. chemical fertilizers had the largest share in energy use and greenhouse gas emissions with 58.55% and 74.22% in tea production respectively. total greenhouse gas emission in tea production was 1281.82 kgco2eq. ha-1. the results of cobb-douglas model and sensitivity analysis of energy inputs revealed that the effect of all energy inputs except chemicals were positive on the yield, and the input of human labor energy on yield was significant at the level of one percent. energy of labor input had the most sensitivity and also had the most effect on the yield and then the machinery energy input and chemicals had the next highest effect on the yield of tea production in guilan province.

A Comparative Study of Energy Use and Greenhouse Gas Emissions of Canola Production

In this research, the energy flow and production energy indices of canola cultivation in Trakya province of Turkey, Golestan and Mazandaran provinces of Iran were compared. Diesel fuel and chemical fertilizer inputs were the highest consumer of energy in the production of canola in these three regions. The results indicated that despite the higher energy use of machinery in Trakya province of T...

Beef Production and Greenhouse Gas Emissions

doi:10.1289/ehp.11562 Cohn et al. (2008) suggested that birth cohort trends in breast cancer rates for women under 50 years of age are consistent with declining use of DDT (dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane) after 1959. They cited Weiss (2007) in claiming that increased detection and treatment of in situ breast cancer must be considered when interpreting recent trends in breast cancer mortality r...

Greenhouse gas emissions in livestock production systems

Agriculture is responsible for a significant proportion of total anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions (perhaps 18% globally), and therefore has the potential to contribute to efforts to reduce emissions as a means of minimising the risk of dangerous climate change. The largest contributions to emissions are attributed to ruminant methane production and nitrous oxide from animal waste and fert...

Modelling of Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Wheat Production in Irrigated and Rain-Fed Systems in Khorasan Razavi Province, Iran

Agriculture has a key role in greenhouse gas emissions.  As such, the present study aimed to evaluate the greenhouse gas emissions from wheat production in irrigated and rain-fed systems. The primary data were collected from 116 wheat farmers. The results showed that the total greenhouse gas emissions from wheat production in irrigated and rain-fed systems were 637.8 and 65.12 kgCO2eq, respecti...

An Analysis of Energy Use, CO2 Emissions and Relation Between Energy Inputs and Yield of Hazelnut Production in Guilan Province of Iran

The objectives of this research were to investigate influences of energy inputs and energy forms on output levels and evaluation of CO2 emissions for hazelnut production in Guilan province of Iran. Moreover, the sensitivity analysis was done by marginal physical productivity (MPP) method for energy inputs and energy using linear regression. Initial data were collected from 120 orchar...
